Based on studies by the French psychiatrist Gaëtan Gatian de Clérambault about erotomania as described in “Les psychoses passionnelles” and the symbol of the Phrygian cap, Fritzia Irízar exhibits a series of sculptures and videos about the ephemerality of freedom when a society is forgetful. The contour image of the Phrygian cap, icon par excellence of freedom, is marked on the soft cushioned, comfortable surface of our existence. Even with the pressure, the mark does not print and the figure vanishes before our eyes.
